Have a question you don’t see listed here?
Each page under Areas of Focus has its own FAQs section at the bottom with questions specific to that population and context.
The Approach page has FAQs about how this work is approached and what happens in sessions.
The Coaching vs. Surrogate Partner Therapy page has FAQs to help you decide between the two paths and understand how surrogate partner therapy works.
The Ways to Work Together page has FAQs about session formats, frequency, and how to structure the work whether you’re local, remote, or somewhere in between.
This page covers the practical side — fees, insurance, accessibility, and general questions about working together.
Fees are discussed during the consultation, once there’s a clearer sense of what you’re looking for and which format may be the best fit.
They are higher than typical talk therapy rates in San Francisco because this work requires a different level of presence. I’m not holding clinical distance. I’m actively engaged with you in the experience, bringing my full attention and emotional presence.
This is focused work, done over a period of time rather than ongoing support. I keep a small caseload so I can stay fully present and engaged in the work.
Insurance does not cover coaching or Surrogate Partner Therapy.
While this can be disappointing, working outside of insurance allows for more flexibility in pacing, structure, and depth than insurance-based models typically permit.
Yes. I reserve a limited number of sliding-scale spots for BIPOC clients with genuine financial need from the following communities:
- trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals
- women and those socialized as girls untangling the effects of high-control religion
When clients are able to pay the full fee, it helps make this support accessible to those most impacted by systemic barriers.
A consultation is a low-stakes conversation with no commitment.
We talk about what’s bringing you here, what you’ve already tried, and what you’re hoping for. You share only what you’re ready to. There’s no pressure to go further than feels comfortable. I’ll share how I work and we’ll get a sense of whether there’s a fit.
Most people find it easier than they expected.
No. Many people arrive with a general sense that something isn’t working and no clear language for it yet. The consultation is specifically for figuring out whether this work makes sense for you and what shape it might take.
You don’t need to arrive with a goal already formed.
I work with couples in a coaching capacity. Surrogate partner therapy is not available for couples together, though if one partner wants to work with me individually, that is possible.
Virtual coaching is available to clients across the United States. If you’re outside the San Francisco Bay Area, a hybrid model is also possible. It’s a combination of regular online sessions with periodic in-person intensives in San Francisco.
My office is in San Francisco, in the Mission District. I work with clients in person throughout the Bay Area — including Marin County, the East Bay (Berkeley, Oakland, Orinda, Lafayette, and surrounding areas), and the Peninsula (Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Burlingame, and nearby cities).
Meeting virtually, or a hybrid format works well, if you don’t wish to regularly commute to my office. These options are available for anyone, including out of state clients.
The office is on the second floor. There is an elevator, but it can be unreliable.
Because of this, the space is not fully ADA compliant. You’re welcome to talk about accessibility needs or virtual options.
I stay current with COVID vaccinations. My most recent booster was in November 2025.
Vaccination is a personal choice and isn’t required of clients. What matters most is shared responsibility and open communication around health and risk. I’m happy to discuss harm-reduction options and can wear a KN95 mask during sessions if requested.
